The Villages, FL – The month of August has arrived in the state of Virginia which is always the indicator of two guaranteed factors; the weather will be muggy and ChampCar’s finest will once again take to VIR’s 3.27 full-course layout to battle it out for their annual 24-Hour event.
Maryland native Kyle Lockrow will be competing in his fourth 24-Hour Classic and second for the Brew Krewe Racing team, but this year will be part of the five-driver lineup in the flagship #86 BMW C Class entry. The car known as “Lager” has proven to be successful for the team at VIR, but this weekend both the car and drivers will be put to the test at the forecast has extreme heat with no end in sight.
“August at VIR is always a fun time because this 24-Hour event is truly ChampCar’s test of man and machine built into one challenge. This track produces a lot of phenomenal racing, but can be very slick and fickle when the temperatures rise because grip becomes a premium that no one can find. Our goal at Brew Krewe is simple for this weekend, keep the car on track and take care of it over 24 hours because the real racing doesn’t even start until Sunday morning. I want to thank Arjun and everyone at BKR for having me back for another go round!”
Kyle’s fourth attempt at “The Lifeline Classic 24-Hour” Event this weekend will be possible thanks to Home Services Restoration, LLC. (Greg & Cathy Reynolds), Mid-Atlantic Source 1 (Jim Dore), Alpinestars, MPI – Max Papis Innovations, Hydration Powered by Path Water, Victory Junction, TMI Racing Products (Don Frady), Start Imagining (Stephen & Alex Hussak), UUC Motorwerks (Arjun Soundararajan), & NLA Parts (Samuel Getachew). Tune in beginning at 12pm on Saturday, August 12th to follow the #86 car’s progress throughout the 24-Hour event.
ChampCar will be Broadcasting a majority of their events LIVE on the Official Champ Car YouTube Channel, along with Race Hero & Race Monitor providing Timing & Scoring through their website and mobile application (Available on Android and Apple Products).

The Villages, FL – The new year has dawned, and teams are anxiously awaiting the start of the 2023 racing season in Northern Ohio. While most tracks have begun the process of revealing their event schedules, Norton, Ohio’s Barberton Speedway sits silent while local racing for the upcoming season remains in question.
Current ownership stake of the speedway is undecided on the future of Barberton, but the Stray Dog Racing team out of Akron, Ohio is leading the charge to help save their 2023 racing season till they can return home to Barberton. SDR Team Leadership members, Tari Impellizzeri, Jason Deal, & Jerry Ward have organized a team fundraising event at their Café Headquarters in Akron on January 21, 2023. SDR Leadership have pulled out all the stops by bringing in extra help for the big day, leading to a 24-Hour “Internet Telethon”.
“We are truly excited and grateful to everyone who has become involved with this benefit. Stray Dog Racing is continuing to grow by leaps and bounds, so having the ability to let our “dogs” roam free and race this season is essential. Barberton is our home, and we hope to return soon,” said Tari Impellizzeri.
NASCAR Craftsman Truck & ARCA Menards Series driver Kyle Lockrow has joined in the festivities for the event at the Stray Dog HQ’s venue to help save SDR’s race season. In conjunction with the Stray Dog event, Kyle agreed to drive in the iRacing Rolex 24-Hour event once again at Daytona International Speedway for Kip Mitchell’s Generic Team Name organization for a second consecutive year during that same weekend to help raise the necessary funds for SDR to compete at surrounding speedways.
There will be a variety of ways fellow racers, enthusiasts, and dedicated race fans can contribute to the cause. Details for the event can be found on SDR’s Facebook page and tickets can be purchased at the event link site. Information regarding Kyle’s stint times and streaming availability to follow in the coming weeks.
